The greatest takeaway from MKMMA for me is the Ah! Ha! moments I’m experiencing.

Haanel’s opus, and I use that word deliberately, wrote a symphony, in my eyes. So much magic in his words. Part 1:15,16,17, and the last line of 23 for example.

“The world within is the practical world in which the men and women of power generate courage, hope, enthusiasm, confidence, trust and faith, by which they are given the fine intelligence to see the vision and the practical skill to make the vision real.

Life is an unfoldment, not accretion. What comes to us in the world without is what we already possess in the world within.

All possession is based on consciousness. All gain is the result of an accumulative consciousness. All loss is the result of a scattering consciousness.

Our future is entirely within our own control. It is not at the mercy of any capricious or uncertain external power.”

Isn’t it a shame that works such as Haanel’s are not studied in senior High School literature? I wonder what difference it would make to the young adults going into Universities, Technical Colleges, and the work force in general.

A recent study commissioned by the Australian Government released last week for public discussion has recommended that our school cirricula be changed to focus on English, Mathematics, and Science. Gee, I wonder why that’s the conclusion drawn. Problem being that it will take 20 years to see the results, after it’s implemented, IF it gets past the politics.

More food for thought.

MKMMA Blog 2019-20 Week 1

Overwhelmed? Yes, a tad. And I ask myself why. Perhaps the answer lies in Scroll 1.

‘Today I begin a new life.’

‘Today I shed my old skin which hath, too long, suffered the bruises of failure and the wounds of mediocrity.’

‘Failure is man’s inability to reach his goals on life, whatever they may be.’

‘My bad habits must be destroyed and new furrows prepared for good seed.’

‘I must discipline myself with the firsty of my new habits as follows: I read each scroll for thirty days in in this prescribed manner, before I proceed to the next scroll.’

And so it continues.

I have allowed myself to fall back into bad habits, particularly watching television shows which take my attention away from my desires, and not reading as many good books as I had previously read down through the years. That habit (reading) came easily, as I began reading at a very early age. Books fascinated me. And once I began High School at age 11, I would listen to the great Earl Nightingale on the radio whilst eating my breakfast, and he inspired me to read some wonderful books on personal growth once I was in my late teens. That led me to Og Mandino, and the dye was cast.

So, what happened? I became slothful and lazy after some business disappointments, which sucked my confidence, and made me gun-shy. That’s why I came back to re-do the MKMMA this season.

I wish you enough.

Introduce Yourself (Example Post)

This is an example post, originally published as part of Blogging University. Enroll in one of our ten programs, and start your blog right.

You’re going to publish a post today. Don’t worry about how your blog looks. Don’t worry if you haven’t given it a name yet, or you’re feeling overwhelmed. Just click the “New Post” button, and tell us why you’re here.

Why do this?

  • Because it gives new readers context. What are you about? Why should they read your blog?
  • Because it will help you focus you own ideas about your blog and what you’d like to do with it.

The post can be short or long, a personal intro to your life or a bloggy mission statement, a manifesto for the future or a simple outline of your the types of things you hope to publish.

To help you get started, here are a few questions:

  • Why are you blogging publicly, rather than keeping a personal journal?
  • What topics do you think you’ll write about?
  • Who would you love to connect with via your blog?
  • If you blog successfully throughout the next year, what would you hope to have accomplished?

You’re not locked into any of this; one of the wonderful things about blogs is how they constantly evolve as we learn, grow, and interact with one another — but it’s good to know where and why you started, and articulating your goals may just give you a few other post ideas.

Can’t think how to get started? Just write the first thing that pops into your head. Anne Lamott, author of a book on writing we love, says that you need to give yourself permission to write a “crappy first draft”. Anne makes a great point — just start writing, and worry about editing it later.

When you’re ready to publish, give your post three to five tags that describe your blog’s focus — writing, photography, fiction, parenting, food, cars, movies, sports, whatever. These tags will help others who care about your topics find you in the Reader. Make sure one of the tags is “zerotohero,” so other new bloggers can find you, too.
